Last chance to impress selectors
Jermaine Lannaman, Gleaner Writer

Sidelined captain Tamar Lambert heads a list of several players who will be aiming to maintain their good form when the third and final Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) trial match gets under way today at Melbourne Oval.

Lambert, Brenton Parchment and Wavell Hinds are the only batsmen to score centuries thus far. Lambert was dropped from the national team for the regional limited-overs competition in Guyana recently due to fitness concerns. He leads all batsman heading into the match with 186 runs at an average of 46.50 from four innings.

The St Catherine CC captain, who made 162 in the first match, is followed in the top five by Parchment 154 (77.00), Hinds 138 (69.00), Carlton Baugh Jr 130 (32.50), and Danza Hyatt with 121 (30.25).

The bowling category is being led by St Elizabeth's CA medium pace all-rounder Shawn Findlay, who has 10 wickets with a best of 5-28.

He is followed by spinners Nikita Miller and Odean Brown, who have bagged nine wickets each.

"It's the final match and the last chance for players to impress the selectors," said Jamaica's coach, Junior Bennett, after Tuesday's end of the second match, which was played at the same venue. The first match was played at Up Park Camp.

The current 24-member squad will be reduced to 18 at the end of the trials, from which 13 will be selected per match throughout the tournament.
