Lloyd Campbell and his wife, Monica, celebrated 50 years of togetherness with a family dinner and a church service at St George's Anglican Church,
Rector of St George's Anglican Church, the Venerable Dr Edmund Davis, was delighted to have the family worship at the church. He said that 50 years was a milestone and an example for others.
The secrets to the couple's long and happy marriage include an undying and unending love and respect for one another and a willingness to give of themselves to others.
Key component
Communication is a key component to their union; they share everything including their caring personalities. Their union has produced four children, three daughters and a son, for whom they have remained very supportive. Togetherness was important to the Campbell family and that meant eating, worshiping, playing and vacationing together both locally and overseas, especially when the children were young.
Lloyd and Monica Campbell can best be described as inseparable, whether shopping, worshiping, on group outings or even in the home. "If Dad is mowing the lawn or raking the yard, Mommy is there with him. In the kitchen, Daddy is with Mommy as she prepares our meals and they usually dine together," is the collective sentiment of the children. The bond is even stronger now that the children are all grown and have left home.
They are also adoring grandparents. Today, they continue to radiate warmth and affection and are often described as "enjoying each other and the marriage they share".
In their community, Mr Campbell is a member of the church choir, the Brotherhood of St Andrew and was its treasurer for over 30 years. He was recently recognised for his contribution to the group. Mrs Campbell is a member of the church's Mothers' Union and served the Post and Telegraph Department for some 40 years.
