His lawyer is Jacqueline Samuels-Brown. She did it - again.
The current president of the Jamaican Bar Association has spread her wings across Jamaica, parts of the region and London, England.
She is one of the 'in laws' who will be producing Monday's Gleaner. Here's more on her.
As a general practitioner, Samuels-Brown maintains a mixed practice with emphasis on advocacy, particularly (but not exclusively) in the branches of criminal law, administrative law and constitutional law.
She has represented persons in applications for judicial review, extradition cases, statutory interpretation, constitutional and other cases.
Among her recent criminal cases are that of then Senior Superintendent Reneto Adams and a group of other cops for murder; gynaecologist Dr Matt Myrie for rape; businessman Danhai Williams et al for fraud and statutory breaches; Dr Marc White, the 43-year-old doctor charged with indecent assault; businessman Donald Panton et al for conspiracy to defraud the Bank of Jamaica and Blaise depositors of more than $600 million, arising from the collapse of the Blaise financial entities; and Nicole Ann Fullerton, former acting operations manager of the failed Caldon Merchant Bank, for fraud. They have all been freed.
Samuels-Brown is an advisory council member of the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology, tutor in criminal practice and procedure at the Norman Manley Law School. She is a member of the Council of Legal Education for the Caribbean; chairperson of the Criminal Law Subcommittee of the Bar Council; member of the Advocates Association of Jamaica; member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association; member of the Jamaican and Grenadian bars. She was admitted to practise in the Turks & Caicos Islands and the Cayman Islands.
Samuels-Brown established the law firm - Firmlaw - in 2005.
