Popular reggae artiste Tarrus Riley, celebrated saxophonist Dean Fraser and other noted Jamaican entertainers will devote their talents to raking in needed funds for the disabled community at a variety concert on Sunday, December 6, at 5 p.m. at the Police Officers' Club in St Andrew.
The concert, dubbed an Evening of Excellence - With Persons with Disabilities, is being organised by the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD).
The show will feature well-known bands, Unique Vision and Fab Five, vocalist Dwight Richards and dub poet Ras JaJa.
For non-gov't' charities
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to three non-governmental organisations for the disabled, the Mustard Seed Communities, Special Olympics and 3Ds (Dedicated to the Development of the Disabled).
The concert will be the culminating event for Disability Awareness Week organised by the JCPD, an agency of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security whose mandate incorporates persons with disabilities. The concert follows the United Nations International Day for Persons with Disabilities, which was observed yesterday.
