De-Batchelor for a flying start

Crack apprentice Dou-shane Gordon Gordon and DE-BATCHELOR should get Super-6 players off to a flying start on tomorrow's 10-race programme at Caymanas Park.

The event, the fifth on the programme over 1000 metres straight, sees DE-BATCHELOR meeting main rival TWIST OF FATE on greatly improved terms in a race confined to maiden three-year-olds.

Burdened with the heavy impost of 68kg, DE BATCHELOR ran on to be fifth by six lengths behind MILESTONE in the 800 metres race veteran jockeys on last Friday's opening day of the two-day Superstakes meet. TWIST OF FATE was second by a head.

In that race DE-BATCHELOR, then ridden by Fitzroy Glispie, allowed TWIST OF FATE all of 7.5kg. Tomorrow, with Gordon set to slip 3kg off his allotted 54kg, DE-BATCHELOR will be all of 12.5kg better off at the scales for a six-length defeat and should easily turn the tables. The speedy TWIST OF FATE will lead but should be caught in the final 200 metres by a fast-finishing DE-BATCHELOR.

Superior speed

The sixth is a knotty 1200 metres race for four-year-olds and upwards where SAILING TIME, BALLER PRINCESS and NO-WOMANNOCRY should be the leading lights. The latter was prominent for a long way n the 1000m race won by EL on November 13 and should use her superior speed to get the better of BALLER PRINCESS.

Race seven, the third Super-6 event, looks tailored for QUEEN NERISSA, now that the four-year-old filly has left her bad gate habit behind. Last time out the Patrick Fong-owned filly was beaten by just over two lengths in a 1000m race which was won in a fairly good 1:00.4 by Rushelle. Prior to that QUEEN NERISSA won a maiden 1400m event in 1:29.4 and even with 200 metres more to travel tomorrow should be too good for her rivals.

Not disgraced

MR WICKER was not disgraced in finishing 11 lengths second to QUEEN ELIZA on November 4 and should be far closer at the finish in tomorrow's eighth race. His main rivals, BULLSEYE, FOXMAN and BRITISH LA GENERAL, appear to be well below their best at this time.

The last two Super-6 events should be won by COCK ROBIN and PEACE BY PEACE. The former is not a specialist over the straight but won at this level on September 23 and is 1kg lighter. PEACE BY PEACE won impressively in the lower claiming group, is now ready to go places and can win at a good price tomorrow.
