The two female jurors who were held in a sting operation on Monday for allegedly accepting money to free a man accused of murder appeared yesterday in the Clarendon Circuit Court.

Supreme Court Judge Bryan Sykes remanded the women until Monday, November 23 when they will appear in the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court.

The judge said he was giving the police sufficient time to prepare the statements in the case.

The accused are 23-year-old model Verona Samuels of Freetown, Clarendon, and 45-year-old domestic helper Natalie Sill of May Pen, Clarendon. They are charged with perverting the course of justice.

The foreman

The two women were among a 12-member jury trying a murder case in the Clarendon Circuit Court. Samuels was the foreman of the jury.

It is alleged that the women approached a relative of the accused and told her that the case against the accused was very strong and she should pay $100,000 so that the jury could free him.

The relative allegedly reported the matter to court officials who informed the police and a sting operation was set up. The two accused were held in a bathroom at a business place in May Pen allegedly accepting marked money from a relative of the accused.
