Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer

A 49th-minute strike from substitute Jermaine Reid led St Andrew Technical High (STATHS) to an exciting 1-0 victory over Camperdown in a Group D ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup match at Vauxhall High yesterday.

In the group's other game, Wolmer's Boys defeated Meadowbrook 4-0.

Despite their defeat, Camperdown remain atop the group with nine points two ahead of STATHS (seven) and Wolmer's (four), who both have a game in hand.

In the day's other games, in Group A, Jamaica College thrashed Pembroke Hall 12-0 and Waterford edged Edith Dalton James 2-1. In Group E, Bridgeport whipped St Catherine 5-0 and St Andrew College stopped Tivoli Gardens 2-0.

At Vauxhall, Reid gave STATHS the lead when he fired home a spectacular 22-yard shot past Camperdown's goalkeeper Marlon Brown

Keith Nichols, coach of STATHS, said he was pleased with his team's performance.

"I think we really played well today because our players showed their experience by dominating the game from start to finish," said Nichols.

Camperdown's coach Orlando Clarke said: "We were second in all areas to STATHS. I believe every team has a bad game during the season and I think that today was a our bad day."
